How Many Feel That The Bible Is Not "Inspired" After All???

so many do quote a scripture to make a point against an idea, yet i see that a number do not seem to believe in the bible's inspiration, anyway.

so, do you believe that the bible is god's inspired word??

Do I believe the Bible is inspired?....ah, I don't think so.

Do I think it has some good stuff in it?.....yeah, I guess.

Do I think it also has some rediculous stuff in it?....definitely! (The one about proving you are a faithful wife by drinking a potion takes the cake. Of course her husband had all the privilages of having a P****S between your legs brings with it).

The Bible is a book written by middle eastern men (got a clue?) to try to offer an explanation of what they did not understand. It contains all the bigatry of their day. Even today its still the same in the middle east. One of the reasons they are still living the way they do is because half their population has been stiffled. I repeat....its only one of the reasons why.

Getting over the "Imperfect Org" defe...

i was wondering if you have a response when you present stuff about pedo, un, rutherford, etc, and a jw says, "well they are imperfect people.. the last respons i got was, only jesus was ever the perfect channel of god - which of course i agree.. but it's like if you ever bring up anything about anything, the stock response is, "we'll it's an imperfect organization.... your response???.

could the wbts change anything about it's beliefs that would entice you back to the religion?.

or are you firmly against the wbts no matter what?.

even if it changed it's rules on shunning, blood, "worldly things" ?.

Head Coverings as a Sign of Submission

this topic came up in chat.

as an outsider looking in, i find the whole "throw a napkin on your head, quick" thing ludicrous at best.

it seems a lot of women resent the practice as humiliating and degrading.

Yeah, that pretty much describes the whole JW experience for any woman (some are just to blind to see)

IMO they can take their napkins and dish rags and shove um where the sun don't shine!

i was raised with a bookbag in my hand.

every saturday and sunday our family was out in service.i vacation, temporary and auxillary and regular pioneered.

i never enjoyed it but did it because i was supposed to do it.

The term 'apostate' - how do you feel about it?

i know the answer may depend on your religious views now, but how do you feel about the term "apostate".

if you are of an atheist / agnostic view since leaving the org, do you still feel a stigma attached to the word apostate or has the word completely lost it's significance.

if you have moved on to another religion, do you still believe in the concept of a 'true apostate' and would you therefore find the term offensive?

Its just a word....

Ya look it up in the dictionary and it simply means "someone who has turned their back on their religion".

As always.....everything is as the mind's eye sees it.

did anyone catch the study 2 weeks ago when in one of the later paragraphs dealing with jehovah blessing his earthly organization, they actually admitted that jehovah had punished his earthly org in 1919?

i thought that was very interesting because usually the society would not even bring that up?

but it also brings up the point "what would prevent jehovah from disciplining his "earthly org" now for various wrong views and actions?.

Giving Up Smoking

i'm giving up smoking on the 22nd.

it will be the third time, but this time as part of a government sponsored training course with drugs and patches supplied etc.

anyone else given up and got any helpfull advise?.

In the past Mr Marlboro made lots of money off of me!!!! Now I spend it on myself! My husband and I are going to the Western Carribean on the money we saved this year!

This is a great forum and even though I don't come as often as I used to I feel it has helped me greatly with my JW issues. In fact I owe this forum and the people here a great debt and will always be grateful for their help. I know I can come here any time and get a question sincerely answered and my heart lifted if need be. There is always someone here willing to listen also.

I have in the past used some not so nice words and if I have offended anyone I apologize.

when i ran from feelings that were starting to come up, i allowed them to build up and become more potent until they burst out and spilled all over me and everybody around me.

a survivor

in the jw religion feelings are repressed and denied as something illogical and messy.
